Back from the past...
Yes, I know that I have not posted in the very longest time. I don't even know who still reads this. But, to wrap up my life the past months or so: I graduated with my Master's Degree and I am now working at Arizona State University as a Community Coordinator. Is ASU the number one party school? According to playboy.com it is. According to Wes (MTV's Real World: Austin) it is. With those 2 top sources, you know that ASU is the party school. I guess I'll see once school starts late August.
And let me tell you...it is so freaking hot here. The days average around 113 degrees or so and at night, it averages around 95-100 degrees. Yeah, at 11PM, I walk out the door, and it's in the upper 90's. Can't wait until the summer is over with.
So I will try to post a lot more frequently.

And that's a ShRAP....
I am so glad that this weekend is over with! For the past 4 months or so, Southern RAP (for those ex-RA folks) has been controlling my life. I was on the planning committee this year for SRAP and it was very fun and time consuming. I got to meet really cool people from many different schools and also got to visit different schools within southern California as each week the SRAP meeting was held at a different school. This past week seemed like it would take forever to end and then Saturday came and while it was the longest day of my life, I was glad because it meant that SRAP was finally here!
The theme this year was ShRAP...The fairy tale continues. Since this year there were two SRAPs in 2004 (one in February for the 2003-2004 school year and then this past Saturday for the 2004-2005 school year). The theme encompassed the movie Shrek, but also any and all fairy tales! I absolutely loved our staff as we came up with the theme, "The dwarfs that didn't make the cut!". We dressed up as dwarfs from that didn't exactly make the movie. Such dwarfs were as follows: homey dwarf, sporty dwarf, geeky dwarf, chatty dwarf, dainty dwarf, etc. You get the picture. I wanted to be gangsta dwarf, but I ended up being monstrous dwarf. It was a fun time.
Now that SRAP is over with, I will hopefully have a life back.

Back from the ashes....
Yes, I know it has been a very long time since I last posted. There has been lots of stuff happening. The latest has been my trip to Vermont for a conference. During which, I visited Harvard and my sister and Boston and Fenway Park (talk about perfect timing with the World Series). While it was a school function, it was still a nice vacation away from this place. Will post later, I promise.

Look, up in the sky, it's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's Tony!!!!
OK, that was a lame title to my entry. I realized that it does not make sense because what I am trying to imply is me coming out of my mom. For you see, it's MY BIRTHDAY!!!! Woohoo! At 12:31 in the morning 25 years ago, I came out crying into the world. Although I don't remember much, I do know that the doctor that brought me out into the world was Dr. Spanos. How do I know that? I looked on my birth certificate. My mom was 27 and my dad was 43. Yeah, I know there is a big age difference between my mom and my dad. Anyhow, I'm old now. I have lived a quarter of a century. Shout out to my birthday twin, Veronica Wilson, who was also born this date, only she was born 23 years ago. So, happy birthday to me and to Veronica!

Schools out for the summer!
As of 11:35PM last night, I am now officially done with my first year of grad. school! Hooray! Our final paper had to be emailed no later than midnight and I being the procrastinator that I am, finished my assignment and emailed it. That marks my end of my first year and the halfway mark.
Now, I can enjoy the summer and start my internship with the Cal Poly Pomona Police Department. Don't know exactly what I'll be doing, but I'm so excited! You know me, wanting to be a cop all my life.
As for now, it's major clean up of my place because I was putting it off. Enjoy the Memorial Day Holiday coming up!

How to relieve yourself in the woods...
as cited in the book How to Do just about Everything by Courtney Rosen et al.
1. Anticipate the need to go so you can select a good site before urgency overwhelms you.
2. Find a spot at least 200 feet from water and 200 feet from campsites, trails and other popular areas.
3. Once you find a spot, dig a hole at least 6 inches deep.
4. Drop your drawers, squat down over the hole and go.
5. Use smooth rocks, grass, leaves or even snow in place of toilet paper if you want to go with a no-trace camping strategy. If you use toilet paper, burn it or carry it out of the woods with the rest of your belongings.
6. Fill the hole back up and use leaves, pine needles or rocks to camouflage the site.
7. If you only need to urinate, do so on sand, mineral soil or exposed rock.
Here are my two questions. 1) If you are 200 feet away from a campsite, get your lazy ass over to the campsite. 200 feet is not too far and they probably have restroom facilities. 2) I wonder just how effect these tips would be without tip number 4. Do you think people will actually forget tip #4?

Enjoy your stay here at Six Flags Magic Mountain
Last time I was here ( Friday, April 16, 2004) I only got to go on a very limited number of rides because of the great amount of people. This time, however, I must say that I did enjoy my stay at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I was reminiscing to the last time I was here (before April 16, 2004) and I think that it was when I was a summer RA at UCSD. We got the opportunity to chaperon some international students and they (the school) paid for our ticket, plus 1 guest ticket. Talk about a sweet hook up!
So anyways, I went again this past Friday, May 14, 2004. Let's just say that there was about 95% less people there this time. KZLA, a local country radio station in the LA area, hosted a concert that night at Magic Mountain. As a result, they bought the park and only sold a limited number of tickets to the public. Fortunately for me and some of my friends, we got some tickets and went to the park. Honestly, we cared less about the concert, but there were some people that were hardcore country fans all dressed up and sporting the cowboy and jeans outfit. This time, the longest we had to wait for a ride was not around 3-4 hours. This time, there was no such thing as Fast Lane pass. This time, the longest wait we had to wait was 10 minutes. And that was for the ride Xtreme. Other than that, all the other rides had a wait of about 2-3 minutes tops. It's hard to believe but it's true! We had so much fun this time. The great majority of the people that were there only cared about the concert. The rest of us, well, we cared about the rides!
